Hi Everyone,
Urla here, I want to share an honest and personal update with you.
On May 14th, Winks Boutique lost access to our Yorkville location due to ongoing lease and financial challenges that, despite my best efforts, I was ultimately unable to overcome.
The past few years have been incredibly difficult for many small businesses. Between the economic shifts following COVID, rising operating costs, inflation, and changes in consumer spending, running a brick‑and‑mortar beauty business in Toronto has become more challenging than ever.
I’m not writing this with a polished corporate statement or a brave face. I’m writing as a woman who has spent 18 years building Winks — and as someone who has been fighting to overcome the many setbacks and to prevent yet another one…some have called me a honey badger! 😉
Many of you have been with Winks for years — some since the very beginning. The messages, calls, and appointment requests for Azi and Iram — and the love so many of you have shown for our team — are what kept me fighting for so long. Every note, inquiry, and gesture of loyalty reminded me why Winks mattered and why I kept striving to find a path forward.
Your support, encouragement, and trust mean more to me than I can ever express.
That being said, this is not goodbye.
While working to preserve our salon operations, I have also been quietly developing a pivot project behind the scenes — a new direction that builds on everything Winks has stood for. I can’t wait to share it with you very, very soon. Though this moment is painful, it may ultimately become the start of something even more meaningful.
Right now, I’m working through logistics, space access, and next steps. I kindly ask for your patience as I communicate with you regarding appointments, packages, and updates moving forward.
Thank you, sincerely, for supporting Winks throughout the years. Your kindness and belief in what we built together have been the heart of this brand.
With gratitude,
Urla

Next week I’ll be sharing referrals and next steps for Azi and Iram. If you’d like to receive that update, please email admin@winkstoronto.com and I’ll make sure you’re included.
