ABOUT BROWS

SHAPED AND LAMINATED BROWS

In the human body, hair follows a natural growth cycle. This cycle happens in 3 stages: Anagen (Active), Catagen (Inactive), and Telogen (Resting). The length of each phase varies depending on the area of the body. But the stages are all active simultaneously- the brow growth cycle can last 12 to 15 weeks.

Eyebrow Growth Pattern

Although most eyebrow hairs grow in a particular pattern, eyebrow hair can also grow up instead of down and in various directions.

ANATOMY OF EYEBROW

EYEBROW ANATOMY

Let’s start with the front (tip): The standard place to start is at the tear ducts, moving out toward the nose bridge. If you want to make close-set eyes look wider, move the front of the brows away from the tear duct. Bring your starting point closer to the nose bridge if you want to intensify wide-set eyes.

The Peak: The highest point of the brow is known as the peak. To find it, gently pull up on your skin from the outer corner of one eye to the other. You can pinpoint the peak by holding a measuring tool diagonally from the nose bridge to the outer corner of your pupil.

The Arch: The highest point at the bottom of the brow is called the arch. You can find it by holding a measuring tool diagonally from the nose bridge to the outer corner of the eye. If you want to lengthen your brows, place your arch just before where you want it to peak, or if you want them to appear shorter, place it directly under the peak. Arch adjustments can widen or elongate the face.

The Tail: The eyebrow’s tail ends toward the outer corner of your eye. When the brow ends on the same horizontal line as the brow begins, we call it an even end. The high end is when the end of the bow is above the horizontal line as the beginning of the brow, which lifts the eye area. A low-end brow is one where the end of the brow is below the horizontal line, which is used for upward-slanted eyes.

CREATING BALANCE

Balance is essential to beauty. To achieve balance in your facial features, it is important to know the shape of your face and how to accentuate your best features.

FACE SHAPE

FACE SHAPE

Does your face look like a circle or a square? Does it have a pointy chin or wide cheekbones? Different face shapes—oval, round, heart-shaped, or square—have unique characteristics. Once we understand these characteristics, we can enhance our looks. Focusing on the eyebrows is the perfect place to start!

FACIAL ZONES

FACIAL ZONES

FACIAL ZONES

There are three zones of the face: the forehead (Upper), the cheeks (Middle) and the chin (Lower). Depending on how these zones relate, you can further help determine your face shape.

EYE SHAPE & POSITION

EYE SHAPE & POSITION

All eyebrow shapes will be placed at varying degrees from high (upturned) to low (downturned). Therefore, eyebrows can be used to balance the appearance of upturned and downturned eyes. For example, a lifted tail can lift downturned eyes, and a lowered tail can lower upturned eyes.

Eye position is the distance between your eyes.

  • Balanced (well-set) eyes: Eyes are equally spaced apart
  • Close Set Eyes: The space between both eyes is less than the width of one eye
  • Wide Set Eyes: When the distance between both eyes is more than the width of one eye.

SHAPING METHODS

WAX 3_png

For most people, removing eyebrow hair is an essential part of shaping the brows —There are three common methods of removal: tweezing, waxing and threading.

TWEEZING

Tweezing removes hair one at a time from the root. Tweezing is very precise and is used to avoid removing too much hair.

WAXING

Wax is frequently used to shape eyebrows.

Waxing is a popular way to shape eyebrows. Wax is applied to the area of unwanted hair and then removed with a cloth strip..

THREADING

Threading is the art of removing unwanted hair by lifting it directly from the root with a single piece of cotton thread that is twisted and pulled along areas of unwanted hair.

Threading does not require chemicals or tugging on delicate skin.

HOW BROWS ARE SHAPED

Not sure how you want your brows to look? Let the professionals help. A brow specialist has been trained to know what brow shape works best for all faces. They can see your face from different angles and make recommendations. Plus, they have tools and techniques that will help them shape your brows.

  • ASSESS

At your consultation, we will discuss your brow goals and challenges and analyze your face shape, eyes, natural growth pattern, and desired shape.

  • MAP

Your technician will outline your brows in these areas: Front, peak, arch, tail and end. This is to create the brow shape you desire.

  • TRIM

After brushing your brows, the technician will use scissors to trim the hair that falls outside the map area.

  • HAIR REMOVAL

When choosing how to remove unwanted hair, your tech may choose from various methods, including threading, tweezing and waxing.

  • FINISHING TOUCHES

Brow products come in many forms: gels and waxes for holding the brows in place, cosmetics for defining and filling in brows, powders to shade them and pencils to create hair-like strokes. Creams and gels can also add texture. This is the final step in defining and accentuating your freshly shaped brow.

POPULAR BROW SERVICES

Sometimes you might want a little more than just shaping your brows.

1

BROW LAMINATION

Brow Lamination / Brow Lift: A specially formulated perm lifts brows and sets them to hold their shape for up to 6 weeks. Brow lamination tames eyebrow hair to control cowlicks, waves, curls and unruly brows.

2

EYEBROW EXTENSIONS

Eyebrow extensions give the appearance of thicker, longer eyebrows—the last 5 to 14 days if glued directly to your skin. They'll stay in for several weeks if applied to natural eyebrow hairs.

3

TINTING

Eyebrow tinting is a semi-permanent dye that adds depth and shape to brows. It darkens the fine hairs around your eyebrows to give the illusion of fuller, thicker brows.

4

MICROBLADING

Microblading is a cosmetic procedure in which pigment is inserted under your skin with a needle to give you defined eyebrows that can last up to 3 years.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Following the preparation process described in the definitive guide to eyelash extensions, the natural lashes are analyzed and styling is planned.

The application begins with isolating one natural eyelash and attaching the appropriate fan to it.

Handmade volume fans have a thickness of .05mm and .07mm, which is considerably thinner than classic extensions, usually 15mm. Therefore, professionals require a high degree of skill and experience to safely and artistically apply these delicate handmade fans.
